Description
The Low Pressure Switch (LPS) installs on the inlet side of a booster pump and automatically shuts off the pump if feed water is interrupted. The switch remains closed at 5 PSI or higher; when pressure drops below 5 PSI, it opens and cuts power to protect the pump.
For delivery (demand) pump applications using a pressurized bladder tank (such as an RO tank), an LPS is recommended to shut off the pump if the tank runs empty. This helps prevent damage to the tank bladder and avoids cavitation. In these setups, the tank pre-charge is typically reduced to around 1 PSI to maximize water storage capacity.
